Monday Musings

For the week of June 23rd...

On Tap for the Week

Getting together with homeschool friends a couple days this week, Grace's riding lesson, a hike, a state park/lake trip, and a bachelorette party for my sister. Also, a bit more birthday celebrating for Rose over the weekend ( I can't believe my baby is six!).

Thinking About....

Settling into a summer routine. Lately that means breakfast, chores, some outdoor time, math and a bit of work from our Sonlight/Bookshark list, more outdoor time and animal chores, lunch, read-alouds, pool, and then either an outing or just puttering around before more chores, dinner, time with Dad, and bed.  It has been a nice change of pace.

Outside My Window

The weather has been so perfect the last few days. I want to bottle it for next January.

Garden

We had our first kale last week, plus a few new potatoes. I finally made my rhubarb jam and we picked strawberries, so there is strawberry jam too. Except, I got lazy and just made the strawberries into freezer jam instead of canning it. So much easier.

Homeschool Notes

I need to order new handwriting books this week, plus Latin for Christopher. We just finished Shadow Spinner, and we all agreed it was a great read. Next up for Core F is Seven Daughters and Seven Sons.

In Our Kitchen

We have tons of leftover birthday cake, which is never a bad thing! Rose requested macaroni and cheese for her birthday, so I made this one, my favorite mac & cheese of all time.  Incidentally, I do not use the evaporated milk called for in the recipe, I use regular milk and it works just fine.

Watching & Reading

We watched Frozen again over the weekend because it was Rose's turn to pick and she just adores this movie (and that's probably an understatement!). This week we are going to start watching Hidden Turkey. I am reading Atonement. I saw the movie ages ago, but luckily I have forgotten it, because I am really enjoying this book!

Hope you have a wonderful week....
