Monday Musings

***Outside my window...It was downright hot today! I think we hit 80F! Unfortunately that means the black flies and mosquitoes will be out in force soon, but today was just beautiful. We did a lot of our schoolwork outside, which is always a nice change of pace.

***Things I'm thinking about...Vacation! We are headed off on a road trip soon to take the kids to see Gettysburg. I am entirely unprepared, so I think the next few days will be a flurry of preparation and packing.

***Barn & garden happenings...The apple trees are leafing out and the rhubarb is coming up strong. I am really looking forward to that rhubarb...for a rhubarb crisp, rhubarb jam, and rhubarb sauce over ice cream.

***In our kitchen... Fish tacos and margaritas for Mother's Day. One of my absolute favorite dinners ever. Grace cooked Greek Salad Penne and it was awesome. And easy!

*** In our homeschool... This will be a light week, for sure. I am feeling glad this week that I didn't choose to upgrade our Sonlight Core C. Some of my favorite books are not included in the new version and I am glad to be re-reading them.  We just finished A Little Princess, which I absolutely adore and we are about to start Kildee House. I think my animal lover will love this one.

***Creating... I started another drop stitch scarf. I think it will be a Christmas gift for Grace, since no one exactly needs a scarf right now.

***Reading and watching... We will watch the last episode of The Story of India this week. We caught up on and finished Bates Motel, which was a really fun...though creepy....show.

***A few plans for the week ahead... Orthodontist, archery, gymnastics, library to stock up on road trip reading, and then the big road trip!

***And a picture of my Mother's Day flowers.....

Have a wonderful week!
